Interlaced Eternal Knot Plaque

An endless knot, woven in copper-warm relief — no beginning, no end. This CNC panel carves the classic interlaced eternal knot: two symmetrical loops threading over and under each other in a continuous ribbon, the strands crossing at neat right angles in the centre and blooming into four rounded lobes top, bottom and sides. It's a motif shared by Celtic and Buddhist traditions alike, read as unity, longevity and the unbroken flow of things — which makes it a favourite for meaningful, gift-worthy pieces. The carving is a raised relief on a flat ground: the ribbon sits proud with softly rounded edges catching the light, so it reads beautifully whether cut in oak, walnut or finished as a wall plaque. Sized right, it works as a door medallion, a headboard centrepiece, a meditation-room feature or an inlay set into a cabinet door. CNC / print notes • The over-and-under weave needs a ball-nose finishing pass to round the ribbon cleanly; a 2–3 mm ball bit handles the crossing valleys. • Watch the tight inner loops — a smaller finishing tool avoids leaving uncut nubs where strands meet. • In hardwood, a light sand and a Danish-oil finish deepens the grain and mimics the warm tone in the render; for a plaque, a bronze or copper rub-'n-buff over dark primer nails this exact look. • Equally printable in resin or FDM as a hanging ornament — add a keyhole slot on the back before carving.
