Description

A symmetrical baroque crest that turns a plain panel into a centrepiece. Two mirrored C-scrolls rise from the centre and curl over into tight snail-shell volutes, each wrapping a raised bead. Between them a pair of feathered acanthus sprays fan upward and frame a clean open ring at the heart of the piece, while the outer arms sweep down and break into little drooping bell-flowers. It is a relief designed to be read from across the room — deep undercuts, generous rounded highlights, the kind of ornament you would expect on a headboard crest, a mantel centre, a mirror frame or a cabinet door. Cut it in oak or walnut and it plays the antique; run it in MDF and paint it and it turns instantly into a decorator piece. Cut & print notes • On the CNC, rough with a large ballnose then finish with a 1/8" tapered ball to reach into the volute cores and the ring's inner edge. • The tight scroll centres are the finest detail — use a small stepover on the finish pass so they stay crisp. • Printing instead? Lay it flat, relief-side up, at 0.08–0.12 mm and it needs no supports at all. • Mirror the file if you want a matched left/right pairing across wider furniture.
