Description

A carved smile of draped fabric and falling leaves, made to hang beneath the finest cabinetry. This ornament is a classic swag drop: a broad, concave arc that dips at the centre like a length of gathered cloth, its middle divided into soft vertical folds and flutes as though the fabric were pinched into pleats. At each upper corner a rounded, rolled boss anchors the swag, and from there two long acanthus-leaf tails cascade outward and down, curling to pointed tips that give the whole piece a graceful, weeping symmetry. Rendered in warm cream tones, the deep undercuts throw real shadow between the folds. It is designed to sit under a table apron, along a mantel frieze, beneath a mirror or clock crest, or as the drop below a cabinet cornice. Mirror it end to end and the swags link into a continuous garland across a longer run. CNC notes • Rough with a 6 mm bit, then finish the fluted centre and leaf tails with a 2 mm tapered ball-nose to reach the deep folds. • The leaf tips are fragile — leave onion-skin tabs and part them by hand, or add support tabs to prevent tear-out. • Choose a close-grained hardwood (lime, maple, tulipwood) so the pleats and veins stay crisp. • Printing instead? Lay it face-up, 0.12 mm layers, with light supports under the down-curling tails; prime and gild for a period look.
