Description

A carved plume that pours down the panel — acanthus leaves at the crown, a beaded pendant swinging beneath. This vertical appliqué builds from top to bottom like a fountain. A tall central leaf stands upright, flanked by curling acanthus fronds whose lobed edges peel away in layered scrolls. Below them the leafwork gathers into a pair of opposing C-scrolls that frame a graduated drop: three beads stacked smallest to largest, tailing into a fanned palmette shell at the very bottom, all held inside a slender lyre-shaped outline. It is classic cabinetmaker's ornament — the sort of onlay glued to a door stile, a mirror frame, a headboard centre, or the apron of a mantel. The relief is carved on one face with a flat back, so it drops straight onto a finished surface. Print notes: • Cut or print flat-side-down; no supports are needed and the back stays dead flat for gluing. • On a CNC, rough with a 6 mm bit, then finish the leaf veins and bead separations with a fine tapered ballnose. • Run the wood grain vertically along the plume so the delicate top leaf does not snap. • Sand lightly, then stain or gild; the recessed scrolls take an antiquing glaze beautifully.
