Scrolled Heart Vertical Drop Onlay

A tall teardrop of scrollwork — two great volutes curl into a heart, then pour down through a fluted trumpet to a splayed leaf foot. The top is framed by a pair of broad, softly rounded C-scrolls whose inner tips spiral toward a small central twin-curl boss; from there the ornament narrows into a smooth fluted stem that flares at the bottom into a three-lobed bellflower. Its slim, tapering silhouette gives real vertical lift to whatever it decorates. That shape makes it a natural drop for table and cabinet legs, pilaster faces, corner posts, headboard stiles, clock cases and mirror sides. Working notes: • It's a moderate-relief appliqué — run the grain top-to-bottom so the stem flutes catch the light along their length. • Ball-nose rough, then a fine ball for the scroll eyes and a V-bit to sharpen the spiral centres. • For printing, lay it flat and face-up with fine layers and light supports beneath the scroll undercuts. • Glue in place, then stain or gild to match the host piece.
