Acanthus Scroll Crown Moulding

A gentle sweep of scrollwork made to crown a panel. This horizontal moulding piece runs as a long, low band with a raised, symmetrical centrepiece: two mirrored acanthus scrolls that curl inward to meet at a pair of tight volute 'eyes', flanked by feathered leaf tips that trail off along the tapering rail. The lower edge dips in a shallow ogee curve, so it sits naturally as a header, a drawer rail or the top of a frame. It's built for cabinetmakers, sign makers and anyone dressing the top of a door, a headboard rail, an over-mantel or a bespoke frame. The restrained, un-fussy design reads well in wood and paints up cleanly too. Router / print notes • Orient flat-back-down; the decoration is all on the front face. • CNC: rough with a 6mm ball nose, then chase the scroll volutes and leaf veins with a 1–1.5mm tapered ball for crisp curls. • The long flat rail on either side is ideal for trimming to length — extend or crop the plain band to fit your exact opening. • FDM/resin: print flat, no supports; 0.12mm layers hold the scroll detail. A dark wax in the recesses makes the central volutes pop against a lighter rail. Symmetrical and centre-weighted, it tiles neatly for a longer run — just butt two rails and blend the plain sections.
