Riveted Diamond Boss Plaque

A studded diamond with a jewel at its core. This ornament reads like a piece of forged medieval hardware: a tall lozenge plate, edged all the way round with a line of raised dome rivets, blooms at each of its four points into a bulbous onion-shaped finial capped by a large boss stud. Set into the centre is a sharply faceted four-sided pyramid that rises to a crisp apex and throws hard triangular highlights, sitting like a cut gem inside its riveted setting. The contrast of the geometric raised pyramid against the soft studded border is what gives the piece its strength. It makes a handsome decorative boss or clavo for a gate, a plank door, a chest lid, a shield prop or a rustic wall accent, and works equally as a standalone plaque. The bold, chunky forms hold up well even at small sizes. Cut / print notes • For CNC, rough the field flat then finish the pyramid facets with a small ball-nose for clean edges; a V-bit sharpens the border rivet outlines. • Printing instead? Lay it face-up on the bed so the pyramid and studs need no support, and the flat back mounts easily. • Keep the four point-finials in mind for wall spacing; drill a hidden fixing behind the centre boss for invisible mounting. • Aged bronze, pewter or hammered-iron paint plays up the rivets and the faceted centre.
