Description

A pointed arch that rises to a single carved flame. This CNC relief is built like a fragment of gothic architecture: a tall ogee-lancet arch framed by nested, stepped mouldings that draw the eye upward to a crisp point. Nestled inside sits a central palmette, a slim ribbed bud or candle-flame shape, flanked by a pair of symmetrical scrolls that curl inward at the base like the volutes of a capital. Beneath them, small stepped plinths anchor the composition. The whole thing is smoothly modelled so light gathers in the deep recess of the arch and glances off the raised centrepiece. It suits anyone building furniture or interiors with a medieval, ecclesiastical or Victorian-gothic flavour: a crest for a cabinet or headboard, an inset for a door panel, a decorative onlay for a fireplace surround or a clock case. Its strong vertical symmetry makes it a natural centrepiece rather than a repeating trim. Print notes: • Machine as a single-sided 3D relief; rough with a flat end mill, then finish with a tapered ball-nose to reach into the tight scroll centres. • Choose a fine, even-grained wood such as beech, maple or basswood so the crisp arch edges do not chip. • Orient the vertical axis along the grain for the strongest point at the top. • For resin or FDM printing, lay it back-down and support only under the free-standing scroll tips.
