Description

Twin horns of scrollwork frame a rising central bud. This symmetrical ornament is a bold furniture crest: a central looping teardrop bulb rises from the middle, flanked by two large C-scroll volutes that curl outward like rams' horns, with a downward-spreading fan of stacked acanthus petals beneath. Everything is modelled in smooth, high, rounded relief with soft rococo curves rather than sharp edges, and the reverse is left flat for mounting. It works as a centre appliqué on drawer fronts, cabinet doors, headboards, clock cases and mirror crests — a single decorative flourish to break up a plain panel. Cut it a little deeper for a dramatic shadow line, or scale it down and mirror a pair to flank a keyhole or a central medallion. Print & CNC notes • The flowing rounded surfaces are ideal for CNC in hardwood; use a ball-nose bit and a fine finishing pass to keep the volutes smooth. • Keep the stock thick enough to hold the full relief depth without the scrolls breaking through the back. • For 3D printing, resin or a fine-nozzle PLA both work; orient the face upward. • Add supports under the deepest scroll undercuts and the overhanging petal tips. • Glue to the workpiece via the flat back, then paint, wax or water-gild to blend it into the piece.
