Recessed Quatrefoil Carved Medallion

A four-bay rosette scooped around an open eye. This carved medallion reads as a rounded-square plaque with four deep, concave pockets swept out toward a clean circular hole punched through the centre. The scooped bays fall away into soft shadow while the raised outer rim and the ring around the bore stay proud, giving a strong light-and-dark rhythm from any angle. It works as an ornamental onlay or centrepiece. Set it on a cabinet door, a headboard or a ceiling rose, thread a cable or rod through the central bore for a light fitting, or use it as a bold carved accent on a feature panel. CNC notes • Rough the four pockets with an end mill, then finish with a ball-nose bit for the smooth scooped walls. • Keep a fine stepover on the concave bays; they catch the light, so any ridging shows. • The central hole is a clean through-bore, so drill or bore it true and let a rod or cable seat squarely. • Cuts well in a stable hardwood or dense MDF for painting; ease the outer edge lightly so it does not chip. • Scale up as an over-door medallion or down as a drawer-front rosette.
