Description

A billowing acanthus fan that dips at the centre and rolls into two little scrolled bosses — pure furniture-crest drama. The carving reads like windswept foliage: broad, deeply veined leaves fan upward and outward from a low central notch, their tips lifting and folding over, while each lower corner curls into a tight volute wrapped around a rounded ball. It has real movement for a static piece, with generous relief depth that throws bold light and shadow. It's shaped to crown something — a cabinet, a mirror, a bed, a doorway pediment or a clock hood — sitting as a wide, shallow arc across the top. Working notes: • Relief is generous, so on a CNC give it a proper ball-nose roughing pass before a fine finishing pass runs the leaf channels. • Orient the grain left-to-right so the flutes catch the light along their length. • For resin or FDM printing, lay it flat and face-up with fine layers, adding minimal supports only under the curled scroll undercuts. • Clean up, then paint, stain or gild once mounted.
