Description

A calm oval centre flanked by rolling scrollwork. This slim, horizontal onlay sets a smooth, slightly domed oval cabochon at its heart, then lets a ribbon of carved scrolls unfurl symmetrically to left and right — each side breaking into three curling volutes that taper down to a small snail-like bead at the very tips. The effect is fluid and wave-like, formal without being fussy. It's the kind of applied ornament you glue onto cabinet doors, drawer fronts, a mantel frieze, a mirror crest or the apron of a table — classic furniture-maker's trim that dresses a plain surface. The unadorned oval also leaves you a spot to add a monogram or date later if you wish. Print & CNC notes: • This is a low-relief onlay meant to be surface-mounted; machine it face-up on a 3-axis router with a fine ballnose for the rounded scrolls and the domed oval. • The tight spiral eyes at each end are the detail-limited feature — use a small finishing bit so they don't blur into blobs. • Leave the back flat for easy gluing; a thin, wide part like this benefits from tabs or a spoilboard hold-down while cutting. • Printed in resin or fine filament it works equally well as an applique — prime and paint to match, or gild for a gilt-frame look.
