Description

A smooth heraldic shield, its top corners rolled into scrolls, its face left open for you. This is a cartouche blank: an elongated shield with a softly rounded base, framed by a raised rounded border, and topped by two neat volute curls that roll inward toward a small central dip. The broad inner field is deliberately smooth and gently domed — a clean canvas waiting for a monogram, house number, family crest, date or a short carved name. It is the backbone of a hundred projects: a front-door house sign, a memorial or trophy plaque, a bar or workshop nameplate, or a decorative shield for a themed room. Carve it plain for an understated look, or drop your own lettering into the centre before machining. CNC / print notes • That smooth field is the star, so finish it with a fine stepover and a light final pass — any tool marks will show plainly on the open surface. • Add your text or crest as a separate raised or v-carved layer in the centre panel before cutting. • The rolled scroll corners want a ball-nose finishing pass to stay soft and round. • Printing on filament? Print face-up and flat, and turn on extra top layers or ironing for a glassy front. Paint, gild or wax to suit — and personalise the middle however you like.
