Description
A carved wooden flourish that dresses up a plain panel in an instant. This is a decorative onlay — a long, slender, perfectly symmetrical ornament in a warm honey-wood tone. Twin sprays of laurel-style leaves fan outward from the centre, each blade veined and gently overlapping like a wheat ear, meeting at a small pointed floret with a round central bead. It is the kind of applied moulding you see gracing cabinet doors, mantels, headboards and mirror frames. Makers use pieces like this as a relief carving to enrich furniture, doors and architectural trim, or as a repeatable motif along a rail. It reads equally well carved in solid timber or printed and finished to imitate wood. Print / CNC notes • For CNC: rough with a ballnose, then detail with a fine tapered ball bit to catch the leaf veins and the central bead; oak, walnut or beech carve crisply. • Mind the grain direction along the length so the thin leaf tips don't chip out. • For 3D printing, lay it flat, print face-up at fine layers, then prime and paint or gild. • Glue as an onlay with the back sanded flat; a dark wax in the recesses makes the relief pop against the raised leaves.
