Symmetrical Laurel Leaf Onlay

A ribbon of laurel, mirrored leaf-for-leaf around a single seed. This horizontal onlay is a symmetrical spray of carved leaves sweeping out from a central pod, where a small round bead rests on a slender stem like the pin of a brooch. Each leaf carries a crisp central vein and a plump, rounded body, layered so they overlap toward the two pointed tips. It's a classic neoclassical furniture motif — restrained, balanced and endlessly useful. Designed as an appliqué, it's made to be dropped onto cabinet doors, drawer fronts, headboards, mirror frames, or above a doorway as a slim decorative header. The low, even relief lets it sit proud without snagging. Print notes: • Ideal for CNC in oak, walnut, beech or a paint-grade poplar; a tapered ball-nose finishing bit picks out the leaf veins cleanly. • Keep it as a raised onlay on a thin backing tab so you can glue or pin it to the workpiece, then flush-trim the tab away. • The symmetry makes mirroring trivial — run it as-is, or split at the centre bud to extend a longer run of trim. • For 3D printing, lay it flat and print at fine layers; it becomes a lightweight moulding you can prime and paint to match existing woodwork.
