Blooming Rose Scroll Onlay

A full-blown rose in bloom, cradled by leaves and anchored on a curling scroll. The star is a single open rose, its layered petals spiralling out from a tight bud at the centre, carved deep and rounded so light pools between the folds. Around it fan pointed leaves and smaller buds, and the whole spray tapers down to a symmetrical scrolled foot - two C-curls flanking a central drop - that turns the piece into a hanging teardrop ornament. It is a classic drop applique, taller than it is wide. Made for furniture and interiors, it suits a cabinet door, the crest of a headboard, a mirror frame, a mantel or a decorative wall drop. The romantic rose motif is a natural for wedding, anniversary and cottage-style decor. Cutting & print notes • On a CNC router, a 3D relief carve is the way: rough with a 6 mm end mill, then finish the petals and scroll with a fine tapered ball-nose for smooth, rounded transitions. • The deep petal undercuts benefit from a slow finishing stepover - don't rush it or the rose flattens out. • For 3D printing, lay it face-up and flat with no supports; 0.08 to 0.12 mm layers keep the petal edges soft. • Sand lightly, then stain, gild or paint - antique gold or soft white both flatter the rose beautifully.
