Description

A sculpted acanthus corbel that tumbles from scroll to leaf to scroll. Taller than it is wide, this bracket reads as a classic support: a rolled scroll caps the top, then two large acanthus leaves peel and fold down the face in deep, ribbed lobes, gathering to a smaller shell-like leaf that curls under at the foot. The relief is generous and three-dimensional, with crisp veins and shadowed undercuts that make it look hand-carved in hardwood. It is built for cabinetmakers, mantel and shelf builders, and anyone dressing a column, range hood or kitchen island with traditional weight. Cut / print notes • This one loves depth — on a rotary/CNC setup, rough with a large bit then detail the leaf channels with a fine tapered ball-nose for those flowing veins. • The under-curled foot and the folded leaf tips are the deepest cuts; check your Z clearance and step-downs so you do not rush the finishing pass. • Printing instead? Stand it upright against the back face; resin captures the leaf ripples beautifully, while FDM wants fine layers and supports beneath the top and bottom scroll overhangs. • Seal well before staining — the deep valleys drink finish and reward a wiped-back glaze that pools in the shadows.
