Description

A full-blown rose in mid-bloom, cradled by a starburst of serrated leaves. This CNC relief onlay centres on a single deeply-cut rose, its overlapping petals spiralling inward to a tight bud, then fans outward into a diamond of pointed, deeply-veined leaves that reach to all four corners. The carving sits proud at the flower and tapers to crisp leaf tips, so it catches raking light and throws genuine shadow across whatever it is fixed to. It is made for dressing up plain woodwork: the crown of a headboard, the centre panel of a wardrobe door, a jewellery-box lid, or a fireplace surround. Painted, gilded, or left as bare timber, it lifts a flat surface into something that reads as heirloom joinery. Print notes: • Best carved in a tight-grained hardwood such as maple, beech or cherry so the petal edges stay sharp. • Rough it out with a large end mill, then finish the petals and leaf veins with a small ball-nose bit for the smooth flowing transitions. • If you 3D print the relief instead, lay it flat on the bed face-up so it needs no supports, and slice fine to keep the swirl of the bud clean. • Seal and wax, or prime and paint, before mounting with glue and a couple of hidden pins.
