Description

A slender neoclassical panel where a blossom drifts down a ribbon into a footed urn. Read top to bottom, the design opens with a small five-petal flower tied into a looping ribbon, which twists and knots its way down the centre of the board before spilling into a fluted classical vase. From that urn a fan of long, feathered leaves rises and curls outward on little scroll handles. The whole composition sits inside a raised frame edged with a tidy scalloped bead — a rope-and-loop border that runs unbroken around all four sides. This is a versatile decorative onlay for furniture makers and restorers: mount it on a tall cabinet door, a headboard stile, a pier mirror surround, or a length of wall panelling where a vertical accent is wanted. The formal, symmetrical styling reads Georgian or Adam-revival. Cutting guidance: • Two-stage machining works best here — a roughing pass to clear the field, then a small ball-nose (2–3 mm) to round the ribbon, petals and leaf tips. • Keep the beaded border shallow relative to the central motif so the frame stays subordinate to the vase. • A tight, close-grained hardwood such as maple, cherry or lime holds the thin ribbon crossings without chipping. • If applying as an onlay, machine a flat back or leave a small tab margin for clean gluing to the host surface.
