Description

A crowning flourish that turns a plain edge into something worth looking at. This is a classical palmette fan — a stylised bud that swells at the centre and then splits into a spray of rounded, tongue-like petals fanning outward before the whole form gathers into deep, cascading flutes at the base. Modelled as a raised relief on a flat backing, it reads like the anthemion crests you see crowning neoclassical furniture, cornices and mantel pieces. The lobed petals catch light along their ridges while the fluted skirt draws the eye downward, giving the piece real depth despite a shallow footprint. It is designed as an onlay: glue or pin it to the top rail of a headboard, the centre of a cabinet door, a mirror frame or a fireplace surround to instantly lift a builder-grade surface. It is equally at home carved from hardwood on a CNC or cast in resin as a paint-ready applique. Cut / print notes • Machine face-up in a single setup; the flowing flutes suit a tapered ball-nose bit for a clean finishing pass. • For FDM or resin, print flat on the back face — no supports needed, and the smooth back bonds well to any surface. • Scale the width to match your piece; the design holds up from an 80 mm accent to a 300 mm centrepiece. • Fill the grain and prime before gilding or painting if you want that carved-and-glazed antique look.
