Description

A cascading acanthus drop that hangs like a carved plume of leaves. This vertical onlay is a classic corbel-style leaf ornament — a single stylised acanthus frond that broadens across a flat top edge and tapers down through overlapping, curling leaf lobes to a rounded teardrop finial at the tip. The carving is deeply channelled, with a strong central rib and symmetrical layers of leaf peeling away to either side, catching light along every fold. It has real depth for its size, reading as a hand-carved drop rather than a flat stamp. Traditionally used at the top of furniture legs, on pilaster corners, beneath mantel shelves, or as a vertical accent flanking cabinet doors and mirrors. Print notes: this is made for a CNC router — rough it with a ball-nose, then reach into the deep leaf channels with a fine tapered bit; hardwood shows the ridges best. The wide flat top edge is your mounting face, so fit it with the teardrop finial pointing down. Printed as a 3D relief it lies flat and face-up with no supports, and a 0.1mm layer keeps the leaf tips sharp. Gild it, paint it, or simply oil the timber and wipe a dark glaze into the channels to deepen the carving.
