Description

A slender bouquet spilling from a turned urn, framed by curling leafwork. This tall CNC relief reads like a page from a classical pattern book. At its heart a fluted, goblet-shaped vase sits on a slim ringed stem, and from it rises a spray of five- and six-petalled lilies with tight buds tucked between them. The stems arch outward and loop into a heart-shaped frame of scrolling acanthus and pierced foliage, while the base flares into a symmetrical pair of leaf volutes. The composition is openwork in feel and strongly vertical, made to draw the eye upward. It is sized and shaped for the long, narrow spaces on furniture and joinery: the centre stile of a wardrobe or cabinet door, a bed headboard panel, a fireplace surround, a pier between windows, or a standalone applique glued to a painted wall. Carved in a warm hardwood it feels antique; run in MDF and gilded it turns theatrical. The model is a single-sided decorative relief. On a CNC router, rough out with a larger end mill and finish the tight leaf tips and flower centres with a fine tapered ball nose to keep the crisp undercuts. Cut it in close-grained stock like maple, lime or beech so the delicate stems do not tear out, take a light climb pass on the finishing cut, and sand lightly before oil or paint. It also scales down cleanly as a raised-relief 3D print for smaller trim.
