Description

A tall, mirror-symmetric scroll panel that runs like a carved ribbon of foliage. This vertical CNC onlay stacks two matching cartouches of tightly wound volutes and acanthus leaves, each crowned by a curved band of raised beads — an egg-and-pearl course that breaks the length into rhythmic sections. Slender S-scrolls curl outward from a central axis, framing pointed leaf tips and a small blossom at each waist, and the whole strip finishes in scrolled feet at the base. The relief is openwork in feel, with deep undercuts that throw a strong, hand-carved shadow. Pieces like this are made to dress the stile of a cabinet, the leg of a four-poster, a pilaster, a mirror surround or a fireplace upright — a European carved look without the chisel work. Print notes • The deep scroll pockets want a ball-nose finishing pass; a small tapered bit reaches between the curls. • Orient the grain vertically so the long leaves and scrolls follow the timber. • Leave the back flat to glue on as an appliqué, or rout a shallow rebate in the host piece for a flush inlay. • Beech, lime or maple carve cleanest; seal before staining so the recesses don't blotch.
