Description

A ribbon-tied cascade of leaves, blooms and berries that spills downward like a garden caught mid-fall. This is a vertical drop ornament, not the tray or inlay the listing suggests. At the crown sits a soft, looping bow with trailing ribbon tails; from it hangs a dense swag of layered foliage that narrows as it descends. Along the way you can pick out slender pointed leaves, small five-petal blossoms and ribbed, gourd-like berry pods, all finishing in a drooping foliate tassel at the very tip. It reads pure Rococo drawing-room, the kind of festoon that once framed a chimneypiece or a panelled door. It works beautifully as a centre drop on a cabinet door, a headboard, a mirror crown or a fireplace surround, anywhere a long slim flourish fills a vertical gap. The deep undercutting between the leaves is what gives it life, so it rewards a slow finishing pass and a coat of gilt or a warm walnut stain. Print notes: • Single-sided deep relief, flat-backed, so it sits flush against a surface. • For CNC, rough in hardwood (oak, tulipwood or lime) then finish with a fine tapered ball-nose to reach the shadowed gaps between the leaves. • Carve or print it oriented vertically; if 3D printing, add tree supports beneath the bow loops and the outward-curling leaf tips. • Sand progressively, then gild, wax or stain to lift the layered detail.
