Description

A graceful acanthus scroll that turns a right-angle corner in one flowing gesture. This decorative onlay sweeps a long C-curve of curling acanthus foliage across the top before dropping down the side, with tucked leaf-tips and a tight central volute anchoring the composition. The modelling is rounded and generous - broad leaf blades catch the light while the deep undercuts between them read as crisp shadow, giving that hand-carved, old-world look. It is made to dress a corner: the top of a cabinet door, a mirror or picture frame, a headboard, a mantel or a furniture panel. Cut two as a mirrored pair to frame both upper corners, or run a set around all four. Print notes • Ideal for a 3-axis router in solid hardwood; the smooth flowing forms also carve beautifully in machinable wax or two-part tooling board. • Rough with a larger end mill, then finish with a tapered ball nose (1/8" or 1/16") to reach into the leaf recesses cleanly. • Mirror the toolpath in your CAM to produce the opposite-hand corner - you will almost always want the pair. • Glue as an appliqué onto a finished surface; a light sanding of the high leaf edges before staining lets the colour deepen naturally in the hollows.
