Description

Old-world weight for a shelf, a mantel or a doorway return. This is a tall, tapering corbel built up in the classical manner and stacked with detail from cap to tip. A moulded cornice crowns the top, sitting above a band of crisp egg-and-dart ovals. Below that the bracket narrows through a fluted central shaft, while carved acanthus leaves spill down either flank in long, curling fronds. It finishes in a downturned palmette and a small carved drop, so the eye is carried all the way to the point. It is designed to do a job as well as look the part. Pair two of them under a floating shelf or a range hood, run a row along a plate rail, flank a fireplace surround, or use a single bracket as a decorative wall console. The deep undercuts throw real shadow, so it reads richly even from across a room. Print / CNC notes: • On a CNC this suits a 3D-carve workflow: rough with a ball-nose, then a fine finishing pass to recover the leaf tips and the flute valleys. • Machine or print it standing vertical to keep the acanthus curls sharp; the flat back sits flush against a wall. • On a resin printer, angle it slightly and support the outermost leaf tips and the palmette drop, which are the most fragile overhangs. • Grain-fill and prime before paint if you want that carved-hardwood or aged-plaster look.
