Description

A slender vertical drop of carved foliage, crowned and tailed with lance-tipped finials. This is a symmetrical décor onlay built for length: a narrow ornament that runs top to bottom in mirrored halves. At its heart sits a round rosette — a ribbed sunburst disc pinched between two small leaf buds. Above and below it, waves of acanthus curl outward into tight scrolls, gather into palmette fans, and finish at each end in a pointed bud. The relief is deep and softly rounded, so it throws genuine shadow rather than sitting flat. It is the kind of vertical accent that dresses the stile of a cabinet door, the centre of a headboard, a pilaster, or the side rail of a mirror or fireplace surround. Machine a mirrored pair to bracket a panel. Print / CNC notes • For CNC, a tapered ball-nose bit finishes the rounded lobes cleanly; add a fine finishing pass to sharpen the rosette ribs and leaf veins. • Cut in a tight-grained hardwood — beech, lime or maple — to hold the fine tips; softwoods can chip at the lance points. • 3D printing instead? Lay it flat with the back face down and print the relief upward; no supports needed on the raised side. • Scale the vector to your panel height before cutting — the design stretches gracefully without distorting. Finish with gilt wax, a dark wax over a light ground, or paint to match your existing trim.
