Description

Twin acanthus scrolls that unfurl like a pair of wings. This decorative onlay is built from two mirror-image volutes, each a curling acanthus leaf that rolls into a tight spiral eye, joined beneath a slender looping ribbon that crosses at the centre and lifts to a small budding palmette at the crown. The composition is open and airy rather than dense, with generous negative space between the scrolls, so it reads cleanly even from across a room. It is designed as a glue-on appliqué. Fix it to the top rail of a cabinet, the crest of a headboard, a mirror frame, a door panel or a fireplace surround wherever you want a flourish of classical detail. The low, flowing relief also makes a handsome standalone wall ornament. Print notes • Flat-backed relief, so it sits directly on a 3-axis CNC bed or a printer plate with no need to re-model the reverse. • On CNC, rough with a large bit and then a fine tapered ball-nose to catch the rolled scroll edges. • Resin printing gives the sharpest result; on FDM, lay it flat, print at a fine layer height, and smooth the leaf surfaces before painting. • Prime and gild, or paint to match existing timber. A gold-wax highlight worked over a dark base really lifts the scrollwork.
