Description

A pair of scrolls sweep outward like wings from a knotted centre. This is a wide horizontal centrepiece — a cartouche built from symmetrical, mirrored acanthus scrollwork. Two S-curved arms fan out to the left and right, each feathering into rolled volute ends, while at the middle the curves interlace into a small knot that ties the composition together. The relief is low to medium and the outline is broad and flat-backed, so it sits happily as a header across a span rather than as a standalone plaque. It's made to crown things: an over-door pediment, the centre of a mantel, a cabinet cornice, the crest of a headboard, or the top rail of a mirror frame. Print / CNC notes: • Start with a wide, flat blank; rough the shape, then finish the flowing S-scrolls with a small ball-nose so the curves stay smooth. • Use a V-bit to sharpen the crisp curl lines and the central knot. • Mount it horizontally, centred on your span; the symmetry makes alignment easy. • Scale the width to suit the piece — it stretches gracefully without losing proportion.
