Description
A long ribbon of acanthus foliage spilling down a vertical panel, curling at both ends. This is a drop ornament — far taller than it is wide — built from a central stem that throws off feathered leaf blades to the left and right and coils into a plump volute at the top and a matching snail-curl at the foot. The leaves overlap in layers, each one deeply grooved, so the piece keeps a strong sense of depth even seen from across a room. It carries that hand-carved, old-world cabinetry feel and is meant to run down a narrow surface. Ideal as an onlay for pilasters, door stiles, the sides of a mirror or clock case, bed posts, or the flanks of a mantel. CNC & print notes: • On the router, orient the stem vertically and use a tapered ball-nose bit to reach into the leaf pockets; a roughing pass followed by a fine finishing pass keeps the veining crisp. • Lime, oak and cherry all carve cleanly for this profile. • If 3D printing, lay it flat and face-up — the relief is shallow enough to skip supports entirely. • Seal, then dry-brush or gild the raised leaf tips over a darker base to emphasise the layering.
