Palmette Crown Pediment Onlay

A symmetrical crown of scrolls fanning out from a central palmette, a centrepiece built to sit above a door or drawer. This horizontal onlay has a raised palmette-shell fan at its heart, flanked by two mirror-image acanthus volutes that spiral inward toward the middle, then taper away into long, thinning leaf-scrolls that curl to a stop at each far end. The whole piece bows gently like a shallow arch, tallest and widest at the centre and dwindling to points at the sides. Rendered in gold, the carving is layered and deep, with the central fan standing proudest. This is a cartouche or pediment ornament, the kind of appliqué fixed to the top rail of a cabinet, over a doorway, on a headboard, or centred on a mantel. Cut and print notes • It is a long, low-relief piece: 3D print flat and face-up with no supports on the front; split into sections only if it overruns your bed, then butt-join. • CNC: mind the depth of the central fan against the thin scroll tails; a roughing pass plus a ball-nose finish keeps both crisp, and slow feeds on the delicate end scrolls avoid tear-out. • Mount it centred and level; the symmetry makes any tilt obvious. • Wax or glaze wiped into the recesses lifts the layered scrollwork for a period look.
