Description

A tall S-curved scroll that flows from a scrolled foot up into a long shepherd's-crook tip — a corner bracket with real movement. What you're looking at is a vertical relief ornament shaped like an elongated question mark. The base flares into a broad C-scroll wrapped with a feathered acanthus leaf and studded with small round bosses, then a slim shaft rises and gently bends before finishing in a tightly wound volute at the top. It's the kind of asymmetric flourish used to soften the corner of a mirror, a clock case, an archway or the stile of a cabinet door, and because it isn't mirror-symmetric it has a natural sense of direction and flow. Good for furniture makers, framers and restorers who need a graceful vertical accent rather than a centred medallion. Print / cut notes • Designed as a one-sided relief; mirror the file to create an opposing pair for the other corner. • The long slender shaft is the fragile part — run the grain of the timber lengthwise along it for strength if you're routing in wood. • Rough out with a 6 mm ballnose, then chase the volute spirals and leaf ribs with a fine tapered ball for clean rolls. • Prints happily too: lay it flat on the bed, and light sanding plus primer readies it for gilt or paint.
