Floral Cartouche Pilaster Panel

A slim classical pilaster dressed with carved floral cartouches at head and foot. The design is a tall, narrow post: square capital and base mouldings framing a long recessed centre field. Set into that field are two mirrored ornaments — clustered five-petal blossoms, a fanned shell, beaded strands and curling acanthus scrolls — one crowning the top of the panel, one anchoring the bottom. The long plain shaft between them keeps the composition calm and architectural, letting the two carved zones do the talking. This is a decorator's piece: flank a fireplace, dress the stiles of a wardrobe or door, or use a pair to frame a mirror or headboard for a period, French-provincial look. Cut notes • Route it as one tall onlay or split the work — run the plain shaft as a flat pocket and reserve the fine 3D passes for the two floral zones to save machine time. • The beadwork and petal undercuts call for a small tapered ball-nose (1-2 mm) on the finishing pass. • Mill in a stable hardwood or dense MDF if you intend to paint; back-fill any tear-out before priming. • Because the two motifs are identical, carve one and mirror the toolpath so they match perfectly top to bottom.
