Arched Acanthus Pediment Crest

A sweeping crown to cap a cabinet, bed or mirror. This CNC carving is an arched pediment crest: a long, low symmetrical arch of layered moulding that rises to a central acanthus cartouche — a fan of curled leaves over a small shell — then tapers along both flanks to scrolling leaf terminals that flick upward at the very ends. It is the kind of ornament that turns a plain top rail into a piece of furniture with presence. Designed to be fitted as a topper, it crowns a wardrobe, headboard, mirror, display cabinet or doorway and sets a classical, baroque-leaning tone wherever it lands. The graduated moulding profile gives it depth well beyond the central motif. Print notes • Its width makes it ideal for CNC routing in solid hardwood; nest the long arch on the sheet and finish the central foliage with a ball-nose pass. • Mind the thin scroll tips at each end — leave onion-skin tabs so they do not tear out on the final pass. • For 3D printing, lay it flat with the back to the plate; the relief is entirely one-sided, so no supports are needed. • Fill the grain, prime, and finish to match the host furniture — paint, stain or a gilt-cream all suit the style.
