Description

A sinuous cabriole leg that sweeps from a rose-laden knee down to a scrolled toe. The classic double curve is all here — a bold outward bulge at the top that tapers through a slim ankle and flicks back into a tight volute foot. At the knee, a little bouquet of carved roses and buds spills over a rolled scroll, and a single acanthus leaf trails down the shin like a watermark. It is a refined, French-provincial silhouette meant to be seen from the front three-quarter. Furniture makers reach for legs like this on side tables, consoles, vanities, cabinets and upholstered stools where a turned leg would look too plain. Print notes: • This is a deep, fully-3D form: best cut on a 4-axis (rotary) CNC, or milled front-and-back in two setups and joined. • Machine it in beech, maple or walnut; keep the grain running the length of the leg so the narrow ankle stays strong. • On a resin or FDM printer, stand it vertically and support the underside of the knee scroll and the projecting rose cluster. • Make it as a matched set of four — mirror the carving side-to-side so a table reads symmetrically — and finish with stain and wax to match the apron.
