Description

An elegant laurel drop crowned with a single blooming rosette — classical trim, ready to carve. This is an ornamental onlay: a slim vertical spray of overlapping laurel (or wheat-ear) leaves cascading upward and downward from a central round medallion carved as a five-petalled rosette. The leaves taper to fine points at each end and layer like a feathered plume, so the whole piece reads as a refined pendant or drop moulding — the kind of applied ornament that flanks classical doorways, mirror frames and cabinet stiles. Use it to dress up furniture, headboards, fireplace surrounds, door panels or picture frames — carve it into the surface as relief, or cut it proud and glue it on as a raised onlay. Mirror the file for symmetrical left/right pairs, or stack it into a longer column for a pilaster drop. The rosette centre makes a natural focal point if you want to align it with a handle, keyhole or panel centre. Print notes (CNC) • Relief-carve with a ball-nose finishing pass; the leaf tips and petal undercuts need a small-diameter bit. • Straight-grained hardwood such as oak, maple or walnut carves the crispest leaf edges. • Watch the pointed leaf ends on profile cuts — leave tabs and free them by hand. • If applying as an onlay, sand the back dead flat for a clean glue line; gild or stain to match the host piece.
