Fluted Pilaster Half-Column Onlay

A slender fluted column with a carved jewel set at its foot. This piece is a decorative half-column — modelled flat on the back so it applies against a surface. The tall shaft is finely fluted with parallel grooves running its full length. At the top it resolves into a compact classical capital: a ring of small acanthus scrollwork beneath a moulded, egg-collared cap. At the base the round shaft steps down onto a square paneled plinth, its face framed by a raised border and centred with a domed circular boss. It is intended as applied architectural moulding: flank a doorway or fireplace surround, dress the stiles of a wardrobe or cabinet, form a decorative newel or stair detail, or turn a plain furniture leg into a stately pilaster. A mirrored pair either side of a panel looks especially handsome. CNC notes: • STL supplied as a half-round relief; because it is long and slender, support the shaft well on the bed or spoilboard to avoid flex. • Machine the flutes with a round/bull-nose bit or run them as a 3D relief pass with a ball-nose. • Hardwood keeps the capital detail crisp; seal before finishing to even out stain uptake. • Print two mirrored copies to frame a door, mirror or cabinet front.
