Description

A knot of dragons writhing up off a handle. This sculpt piles several long-necked dragons together, their serpentine necks twisting and craning in different directions with jaws gaping, while ragged bat-like wings spread and fold around the tangle. The bodies knit together into a muscular central mass and then taper down, coiling around a plain cylindrical post at the base — the kind of grip you would top a walking cane, a tap handle, a newel post, a sceptre or a display spike with. The modelling is rough and organic, all sinew and torn wing-membrane, so it reads as chaotic and alive rather than neat. It is a striking topper for a themed build or a menacing centrepiece for a fantasy shelf. The smooth cylinder at the bottom is the functional part: leave it to slot into a matching socket, or drill it out for a threaded insert or dowel. Print notes • Detail-dense and overhang-heavy — resin is the natural choice here for the wing edges and multiple heads. • Expect a lot of support on the outstretched necks and wings; orient the cylinder down and let supports build up into the underside of the mass. • If you want a functional handle, hollow or bore the base cylinder and test-fit your rod before committing. • Clean up and a metallic or stone paint scheme really sells the writhing-dragon knot.
