Spread-Wing Perched Wyvern

Wings flung wide, low and coiled — a dragon frozen the instant before it launches. This one sits closer to a wyvern: a lean, scaled body hunched over four splayed clawed feet, with a long tail whipping out behind and tipped by a run of ridged spikes. The head is low and forward, framed by swept-back horns and a bristling jaw, giving it a watchful, predatory set. Its two great membranous wings dominate the pose, stretched taut on knuckled arms so the thin skin catches the light between each finger-bone. Every surface carries fine reptilian texture — overlapping belly plates, pebbled hide and a raised spinal ridge — so it rewards a careful paint job. Drop it into a fantasy skirmish game as a monster centrepiece, display it on a shelf, or hand it to a dragon-obsessed friend. Print notes • The thin, outstretched wings are the challenge: print with supports beneath the full wing span and the lifted tail, dense enough to hold the trailing edges flat. • Resin gives the sharpest scales and claw tips; at FDM scale, tree supports reduce scarring on the wing underside. • Consider printing the wings separately and pinning them if your build plate is small. • Glue it to a scenic base — rock or ruin — for extra stability, since the footprint is wide but shallow. Undercoat black, then zenithal white and glaze with colour to make the wing membranes glow.
