Standing Heraldic Dragon Figure

A stout little dragon caught mid-roar, reared up and ready to guard your shelf. The figure stands on two thick hind legs with a heavy, rounded belly, balancing back on a broad tail. Its head is thrown up and open-jawed, ringed by a spiky frill of horns and a mane of jagged flaps, while one clawed forelimb reaches out as if warding you off. A ribbed wing rises behind the shoulder, its edge lined with a row of bony spurs. The styling is heraldic rather than naturalistic — closer to the dragons carved onto civic crests and old gateways than to a realistic beast — which gives it a friendly, storybook heft. It makes a characterful desk or bookshelf ornament, a painted centrepiece for a fantasy tabletop, or a chunky gift for anyone who collects dragons. Print notes • Resin (SLA/DLP) captures the teeth, frill and wing spurs most crisply; FDM works well at larger scale with a 0.12 mm layer height. • Print upright with supports under the outstretched forelimb, the jaw and the wing edge; the belly and tail need none. • Hollow the body and add a drain hole to save resin on a large print. • The broad tail-and-feet tripod gives a stable base, so no separate stand is required. Prime in grey, then dry-brush the scales and pick out the eyes and teeth to bring the snarl to life.
