Seated Winged Dragon Statue

A young dragon sits back on its haunches, wings up and neck craning to the sky. This is a full in-the-round figure rather than a flat panel: a plump-bodied dragon perched on two clawed hind legs, forelimbs planted in front, a long ridged neck sweeping up to a raised, open-jawed head, and a pair of tall webbed wings spread behind like sails. The banded belly, knuckled toes and membrane wing-struts are all modelled, giving it a friendly, storybook menace. It suits 3D CNC rotary carving of a solid blank, or straightforward 3D printing, for a mantel statue, a tabletop RPG centrepiece, a bookend or a garden guardian. Print notes: • For CNC, treat this as a 4th-axis rotary job: carve the body in the round from a turned blank, then hand-finish the wing membranes and face. • For 3D printing, expect supports under the chin, the wing undersides and the outstretched forelimbs; angle the wings back to reduce overhang. • Hollow the body and add a drain hole if you are printing it large in resin. • Fine layers keep the neck ridges and toe claws crisp; sand or fill before painting in scaled greens, bronzes or stone-grey.
