Spiny Winged Dragon Figurine

A lean young dragon caught mid-stride, wings flung wide. This model captures a four-legged dragon in a low, prowling stance, its long neck sweeping forward into a broad, frilled head crowned with a fan of backward-sweeping spikes. Twin membranous wings rise from the shoulders like taut sails, their leading edges tipped with small hooked claws, while a ridge of jagged dorsal spines marches from the nape all the way down to an arrow-shaped, spade-tipped tail. The body is clad in crisp, faceted scale-work that reads beautifully under raking light, and the four clawed limbs are posed as though the beast is about to spring. Print notes • Resin (SLA) gives the sharpest scales and wing membranes; FDM copes well at larger scales. • Expect to support the wing undersides, the jaw and the outstretched forelimbs; angle the model back slightly to keep contact marks off the wing faces. • Hollow the torso and add a vent hole if you scale it up, to save resin. • A matte grey primer really makes the spine ridge and scale facets pop before you drybrush.
