Description

A winged dragon curls at the heart of a Celtic trinity knot. The outer form is a classic triquetra — three interwoven vesica points looping over a bounding circle — carved in smooth, rounded relief. Nested in the open centre sits a stylised dragon: wings folded high, a horned head bowed low, a spined back, and a long tail spiralling down into a flourish. The contrast is what makes it: geometric, ribbon-like knotwork against a flowing, organic beast, all raised cleanly off a recessed background. Made for lovers of Celtic and fantasy design — hang it as a wall medallion, set it into a plaque or shield prop, or use it as a decorative inlay on a chest lid or door. Cut notes • The over-and-under weave of the triquetra depends on even relief height; run a light finishing pass so the ribbon crossings stay legible. • Fret out (or deep-pocket) the three background voids first to make the knot appear to float, then carve the dragon last. • Fine features — the wing membranes and tail spiral — suit a 1-2 mm tapered ball-nose bit. • It looks superb in dark hardwood with the raised knot sanded to a paler highlight, or painted metallic bronze over a black base.
