Crested Legionary With Tower Shield

A stocky legionary braced behind his shield, blade already cocked to strike. This tabletop miniature is a broad, dwarf-proportioned soldier kitted out in Roman style: a tall crested helmet with the crest brushing back over the neck, overlapping scale and lamellar armour across the shoulders and skirt, and heavy sandalled feet planted wide. His right fist raises a short leaf-bladed sword over the shoulder; his left arm hauls a large rectangular tower shield whose face is carved with a raised winged-bolt device around a central boss. The pose is defensive-aggressive — hunkered behind cover, ready to punch out with the gladius — which makes it a strong rank-and-file trooper, a unit leader, or a centrepiece for a fantasy-Rome or dwarf-legion warband. Printing tips: • Best on a resin printer at 28–32 mm scale, where the scale armour and shield relief really live. • Tilt the figure back slightly and support the underside of the shield, the raised arm and the sword; keep the shield face support-free so the emblem stays razor-sharp. • If the shield ships as a separate STL, print it flat-on for a flawless front and glue it on afterwards. • Scaling up into a display bust? Thicken the sword blade a touch first so it survives handling. FDM at 0.12 mm also gives a satisfyingly chunky tabletop look — prime grey and dry-brush to lift every armour scale.
