Gnome Riding A Charging Bull

A short-tempered bull, and the little fellow foolish enough to ride its horns. The bull is the star: a stocky, heavy-shouldered beast caught mid-charge, head dropped low, neck and ribs bunched, thick legs braced on stubby hooves and a long tail whipping up into a loop behind. Clinging to the front of its lowered head is a bearded gnome in a tall pointed hat, arms wrapped around a horn, going along for the ride whether he likes it or not. The mash-up of a serious, powerful animal with a comedy passenger is the whole charm of the thing. Print notes: • FDM handles the bull's smooth bulk nicely at larger scale; drop to resin when you want the gnome's face and beard crisp. • Add supports under the belly, the raised looping tail and the overhanging gnome; the tail loop is the fragile bit, so size the print so its walls stay solid. • Orient hooves-down and tilt the tail loop toward a support-friendly angle to keep the underside clean. • A matte primer suits the comic style — or paint the gnome in bright colours and leave the bull stone-grey for contrast.
