Description

A blossom and a scatter of pearls, wrapped around the finger. Whatever the filing code suggests, this is a piece of ornamental jewellery, not a routed panel. It is a decorative ring whose split band opens into two parallel rails, each lined with a row of tiny raised beads like granulation or a milgrain of little spheres. Where the band meets the crown, the design blooms into a cluster of petal-shaped elements, each petal outlined and studded with more of the same beaded dots, forming a soft floral or butterfly-wing centrepiece that sits proud of the shank. It is a busy, tactile, romantic design with a hand-crafted, almost antique feel. The model is aimed at jewellers and makers who cast from prints: run it through the lost-wax route in silver, bronze or gold, or print it directly as a costume piece. It suits a statement everyday ring, a bridal or promise ring, or a boutique catalogue design. Print / casting notes: • Use a castable resin on a high-resolution MSLA printer; a 25-50 micron layer height is needed to resolve the bead rows and petal edges cleanly. • Orient the ring at an angle with the band opening upward and support from the inside of the shank and under the petal cluster to keep the visible faces support-mark free. • Confirm the internal diameter against your target UK/US ring size before slicing, and add a little for metal shrinkage if casting. • After casting, tumble or bead-blast to even the granulation, then bright-cut or polish the petal highlights.
