Description

A reclining mermaid caught mid-drift, framed by curling baroque foam. Despite the plain "J 123" filename, this model is a richly sculpted mermaid ornament. She lies back with one arm lifted, long hair spilling into a bed of scrolling, wave-like volutes that fan out behind her head like carved sea-foam. Her lower body twists into a fish tail rendered with overlapping, individually raised scales, sweeping down and round into a fluked fin. Clusters of tiny beads — pearls or bubbles — dot the scrollwork and fin edges, giving the whole piece a jewellery-like, almost art-nouveau richness. It suits collectors of maritime and fantasy decor: a cabinet or shelf figure, a coastal-themed mantel piece, or a centre motif for a nautical panel. Because the sculpt reads well from a shallow angle, it also carves beautifully as a deep bas-relief for a headboard, door panel or box lid. Print / carve notes: • For resin: print tilted 30–45° with the tail as the anchor so supports land on the back and the face stays clean. • For FDM: 0.08–0.12 mm layers bring out the scales; expect to sand the smooth hair and torso. • As a CNC relief, a tapered ball-nose bit handles the tight foam scrolls; save the beadwork for a fine finishing pass. • Hardwoods and modelling board both hold the scale texture well. Display upright or slightly angled to show the tail curl at its best.
