Branching Coral Crown Ring

Part crown, part living coral. This is a sculptural open ring from which slender, organic tines branch outward like antler tips or a reef fan caught mid-growth. The central band is a smooth flattened oval; from its top and bottom edges spring forked prongs that split, taper and end in rounded knobs, so the silhouette reads as a spiky natural crown rather than a flat engraving. Every prong is a rounded rod, giving the whole piece a fluid, almost coral-skeleton quality when the light rakes across it. It suits anyone after an unusual centrepiece: a candle surround, a napkin or bottle collar, a fantasy prop crown, or simply an abstract desk sculpture that catches the eye. The strong negative space between the tines is the whole point, so display it where light can pass through. Print notes • Orient the ring on its side or upright so the branching prongs grow upward; this keeps the rounded tips clean and minimises support on the undersides. • The forked tips are the most fragile feature, so use tree supports and print slow on outer perimeters, or run it in resin for the smoothest branches. • Bump wall count and infill if it will be handled as a wearable or prop; scale up for a bold table piece. • Sanding the band and a metallic bronze or pearl finish leans it fully into the coral look.
