Description

A tangle of smooth tubes and beads coiling over itself like frozen rope. This is an abstract sculptural piece: fat, rounded tubes loop, curl and interlace above a low oval plinth, studded here and there with spheres and short cylindrical stubs, with a couple of open ring-holes threaded through the knot. The base is banded with a border of raised beads and drilled dots, framing the chaos above inside a tidy dotted ring. There is no literal subject — it reads as pure organic geometry, somewhere between a nest of serpents, a Celtic knot melted smooth, and an oversized molecular model. It makes a striking modern desk or shelf sculpture, a heavyweight conversation-piece paperweight, or a tactile object to fidget with — the rounded forms are made to be picked up and turned in the hand. Print & finish: • The interlacing tubes overhang heavily, so this one genuinely needs supports; tree or organic supports touch fewer show-surfaces than a grid across all these curves. • Orient plinth-down and accept a little support scarring beneath the arches, or slice it into a couple of sections along the tubes for cleaner faces. • Print smooth, sand lightly, then a metallic or stone-effect coat — bronze, pewter or marble — really sells it as a cast object. • On a 4-axis CNC or taken as a resin cast it becomes a genuine ornament; polish the tube surfaces to a sheen and the interweave catches light beautifully.
