Description

A single bold circle punched clean through a solid square — geometry doing all the talking. This file is a chunky square block with gently softened corners and a stepped, bevelled outer edge that catches light along its rim. Dead centre sits a deep circular bore that opens straight through the body, so the piece reads as a hard-edged frame wrapped around a perfect round void. Despite the listing's Celtic and mandala tags, there is no lattice or knotwork here at all — the appeal is pure minimalist contrast: a crisp square silhouette against an open porthole. The rendered pine-gold finish suits its clean, mid-century-meets-modern look. Because the form is so open-ended, it flexes to whatever you need. Wall-mount it as a porthole-style picture or mirror surround, seat a quartz clock movement in the bore, drop in a tealight cup or collar it around a pillar candle, or stand it on a shelf as a sculptural napkin or roll holder. Cut / print notes • Simple toolpaths — a 2.5D pocket for the bore plus a profile cut make this a friendly beginner CNC job in oak, walnut or pine. • Run a finishing pass on the inner circle so the bore comes out smooth and true; the round wall is the one place tool marks will show. • Sand the outer chamfer by hand to sharpen the light-catching edge. • Laminate two blanks face to face if you want extra depth for a candle or clock recess.
